Even taking into account the terrible compromise of the finale which pretty much annuls the entire theme of the novel, the Chocolate War is still a badass teen movie. John Glover is one of my all time favourite character actor villans and I don't know why, but I also can't resist movies about private school kids with shitty '80s haircuts. Also, one extra star for the wicked Kate Bush track "Running Up That Hill", it's so friggin' sweet!

Everything is shot with long angle lenses, dirty frame edges, jittery handheld camerawork & snap zooms. It's a cinematographer's wet dream, but a pretty mediocre addition to a mediocre franchise. I just can't get into this Alias/24/CSI stylized horseshit at all.
