Songs From the Second Floor

Directed by: Roy Andersson
Screenplay by: Roy Andersson
Year: 2000

Clever, amusing and visually well-polished. I have to admit some of the surrealist/bizarre black humour just didn't affect me as much and seemed a bit tiresome after a while. But this film has an interesting approach, nonetheless.

Every scene is shot in a static tableau composition, reminiscent of the silent era slapstick films (reminds me of the old Charlie Chaplin quote: "Tragedy is in the close-up, but comedy is in the long-shot). All in all, I'd rather watch Brazil for the 367th time than see this film again.
