What's not to love about a gangster film that uses hats as its central metaphor? The characters are incredibly compelling and the plot twists always kept me on my toes (even if it seems to get a bit melodramatic at times). Why this didn't even get nominated for an Oscar for best screenplay that year is an absolute disgrace. This is just one of those films that I finally got around to seeing and it didn't disappoint me in the slightest.

4.5 out of 5
