Basquiat

Directed by: Julian Schnabel
Based on the story by: Lech Majewski & John Bowe
Cinematography by: Ron Fortunato
Year: 1996

An incredible cast, unforgettable scenes, and the closest, most sincere look at an artist's life and the world around him. If you are interested in art AT ALL or loved Schnabel's other film, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", or both, you MUST watch this film! If not, watch it just for the sake of seeing David Bowie don the mop of messy white hair he was born to wear! His Andy Warhol is better than any Andy I've ever seen in a film! The ending is so beautiful and depressing, it will move you to tears (seriously). All hail SAMO, the once and future king!
