Eyes Wide Shut

Directed by: Stanley Kubrick
Based on the book by: Arthur Schnitzler
Cinematography by: Larry Smith
Editor: Nigel Galt
Year: 1999

People who were "dissapointed" in this film really don't appreciate why Kubrick was so great in first place. The meticulous camerawork, pacing and performances are on par with anything else he's ever directed. A fascinating trip into a married man's sexual psyche and the bizarre world that unfolds around him. I think people will recognise this film amongst Kubrick's best work in years to come, which makes his sudden death all the more tragic. That piano score still gives me chills.

4.5 out of 5
